About Ashley Coia
Ashley (she/her) is a multifaceted creative force. Celebrated as an award winning director, she is also an actor, choreographer, and theatrical artist. Equipped with a BFA from New York University’s esteemed Tisch School of the Arts, Ashley honed her craft in the musical theatre department at the prestigious New Studio on Broadway. Following her studies, Ashley worked professionally as an actor in New York City and regionally. Here she cultivated a passion for developing new works and originated many roles. Her regional directorial debut captivated audiences, winning her a Broadway World Award for Best Director in a Musical, along with nominations for Best Choreography and Best Musical for her work in Spring Awakening. She then went on to direct The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical later that year.
Inspired by the complexity of the human condition, Ashley seeks to manifest and elevate these complexities through artistic expression utilizing one of the most impactful artistic mediums: live theatre. Committed to fostering collaborative and inclusive environments, Ashley is dedicated to dismantling hierarchical barriers, championing the creation of safe and empowering spaces where creativity flourishes.
